Intensive Therapy in San Francisco
A focused, immersive therapy experience designed to help you move forward, faster.
The issue isn't always therapy itself—it may simply be that there's not enough time to go as deep as you'd like.
You spend all week carrying something—anxiety, grief, burnout, a difficult relationship, a major decision, a loss you can't seem to move through, or a pattern you're tired of finding yourself back in again. Maybe you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or wondering why the same challenges keep showing up, no matter how much insight you've gained.
Then, just as you begin to settle into the weekly therapy routine, the session ends.
Life inevitably picks back up (because it never really stopped) with emails, responsibilities, obligations, and distractions returning. And the thing you hoped to understand, process, or change gets pushed aside until next week.
A therapy intensive creates something many of us rarely get: dedicated time to focus on you.
AN INTENSIVE MIGHT BE FOR YOU IF…
A recent loss, breakup, traumatic experience, or major life change is taking up more space than you'd like.
Traditional weekly therapy leaves you wanting more time to fully explore what's coming up.
Burnout, exhaustion, or overwhelm have made it difficult to feel present, motivated, or connected to yourself.
You’re looking for clarity around an important decision, transition, relationship, career move, or next step.
Creative blocks, performance anxiety, leadership challenges, or self-doubt are getting in the way of your goals.
Focused support feels more appealing than spreading the work across months of weekly sessions.
Your demanding schedule makes it difficult to commit to ongoing therapy, but dedicated time for meaningful work feels possible.
A difficult memory, relationship, or past experience continues to affect your life in the present.
MORE SPACE. MORE FOCUS. MORE MOMENTUM.
WHAT IS INTENSIVE THERAPY?
An intensive is essentially dedicated, uninterrupted time to do the deeper work of therapy in a more focused format.
Rather than spreading the work across weeks or months, intensive therapy creates intentional space to focus on a specific challenge, experience, goal, or recurring pattern. Without the pressure of the clock, we have more room to slow down, stay with what comes up, and allow the work to unfold naturally.
At The Tides Therapy, Brainspotting and EMDR are the foundation of the intensive experience.
These approaches work with the brain and body to help process experiences, emotions, and patterns that can be difficult to shift through talk therapy by itself.
Because Brainspotting and EMDR invite your nervous system into deeper processing, having several uninterrupted hours together allows us to stay with the work rather than stopping just as it begins to unfold. So instead of opening up important material only to pause until the following week, we can continue the process—giving your brain and body more opportunity to process, integrate, and move toward the change you’ve been reaching for.
Intensive Options
Therapy intensives typically last three to four hours, but we'll tailor the length based on your goals and the kind of support you're looking for.
For some people, even having two hours of uninterrupted therapy feels significantly different than a traditional session. If you're interested in a longer format but aren't sure you're ready for a full intensive, we can discuss extended sessions and create an approach that feels right for you.
Some people benefit from an extended time together that’s longer than a typical weekly session, while others find that several hours gives them the space they need to fully focus on a specific challenge, transition, pattern, or goal. I offer both:
Extended Sessions (85 Minutes) | $365
Therapy Intensives (3-4 Hours) | $705-$940
Together, we'll determine the format that best supports where you are and what you're hoping to accomplish.
Most of my clients choose one of the following packages:

Frequently asked questions
-
The biggest difference is time. Rather than spreading the work across multiple weeks or months, an intensive creates several uninterrupted hours to focus on a specific goal, challenge, or area of growth. This can be especially valuable when using Brainspotting or EMDR because it allows more continuous processing and integration.
-
Not at all. While many people use intensives to process trauma, grief, or difficult life experiences, they're also a great fit for people seeking clarity, personal growth, improving performance, or support through a major transition.
Some clients come because they're hurting. Others come because they feel stuck, want to understand themselves more deeply, prepare for an important season, overcome a creative block, enhance athletic or workplace performance, or make meaningful changes in their lives.
The intensive format is simply about creating more space for focused work—whatever your goals may be.

No. While Brainspotting and EMDR are often the foundation of my intensives, talk therapy, insight-building, resource development, and practical skill-building are integrated throughout the process. We'll collaborate on an approach that feels aligned with your goals and comfort level.
